Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What are your fees?
A: Individual sessions $150.00 per clinical hour. DOT/SAP evaluations and one follow-up session $350.00. The Anderson Method: Weight Management $125.00 (Free Initial Consult). For other services please call my office.
Q: Are you on any managed care panels?
A: I am on select insurance panels. Check with me prior to your first appointment. I normally do not choose to work with insurance companies due to their rigid requirements, poor reimbursements and perhaps most importantly confidentiality concerns. Once you agree to involve your insurance company I must submit your diagnosis, treatment plan, often clinical notes and have discussions about your treatment to get sessions approved.
Q: Will my insurance pay for your services?
A: Many insurance companies will reimburse you for some portion of the cost for mental health counseling with a licensed therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist. Please contact your insurance provider to find out if they will provide reimbursement for a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, how many sessions, and at what rate you will be reimbursed. It is your obligation to determine what information they will require in order to reimburse you directly. I will provide you accurate invoices with appropriate procedure and diagnostic codes if you want to request reimbursement through your insurance company.
Please be aware that most insurance companies require me to provide them an accurate psychiatric diagnosis (some form of "psychopathology" like depression, panic disorder, bipolar disorder or generalized anxiety disorder) which they deem to be "medically necessary" if they are to agree to pay for mental health care. Once such a diagnosis is submitted to your insurance company, this is sustained life-long as part of your medical record.
Q: Will I receive therapy directly from you?
A: Yes. My practice is a solo, fee-for-service practice, and I treat my clients as I would want my own family members treated.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: Cash, Checks and credit cards Visa/ MasterCard/ American Express.
Q: What makes your practice so unique?
A: Three reasons:
Directive and effective treatment.
The "buck" stops with me. Other than my answering service, I deal directly with you.
I will do what ever it takes to help you make the emotional and behavioral changes you need to make now.
